Almost Impossible by Nicole Williams

Fans of Sarah Dessen, Stephanie Perkins, and Jenny Han will delight as the fireworks spark and the secrets fly in this delicious summer romance from a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author.

When Jade decided to spend the summer with her aunt in California, she thought she knew what she was getting into. But nothing could have prepared her for Quentin. Jade hasn’t been in suburbia long and even she knows her annoying (and annoyingly cute) next-door neighbor spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E.

And when Quentin learns Jade plans to spend her first American summer hiding out reading books, he refuses to be ignored. Sneaking out, staying up, and even a midnight swim, Quentin is determined to give Jade days–and nights–worth remembering.

But despite their storybook-perfect romance, every time Jade moves closer, Quentin pulls away. And when rumors of a jilted ex-girlfriend come to light, Jade knows Quentin is hiding a secret–and she’s determined to find out what it is.

Amanda’s Review

I was enchanted by the by this sweet young adult love story and the quick wit and flirtatious banter between Quentin and Jade. I loved their innocent relationship with a not so unpredictable twist. Stories of first loves and innocence captured are treasures no one gets too old to enjoy.

Quentin was one of those characters you can’t help but love. He’s the responsible green that even with his baggage, you’d love your daughter to meet and fall in love.

The ending left a little to be desired. I don’t have to be spoon-fed a complete conclusion, but I would’ve liked to see a bit more of what happened or maybe an epilogue. Regardless of that, it was a sweet, easy read that made me feel like there may still be some good left in our young adults.

Keys to Success from a Completely Unsuccessful Person by Joel C Cunningham

Satire, Humor, Self-Help
Date Published: 12-15-17
Dear Reader,
Knowledge, success, hope–this book will provide you with none of these things.
For those who are curious to check out the contents and “guidance” provided in this book, I would like to offer a brief, but important warning before you embark on your treacherous journey. I am this book’s editor. I have thoroughly handled, absorbed, and regurgitated the contents of this book over and over again, and while most of the content in this “self-help” book is, in my professional opinion, completely ridiculous and easily recognized as such, I fear that some of you who read this book may sadly find yourselves duped by Joel’s terrible advice.
Speaking modestly, Keys to Success from a Completely Unsuccessful Person represents is a collection of thoughts, ideas, and errant opinions from the delusional mind of a self-proclaimed self-help guru. Somehow, Joel has miraculously and single-handedly compiled more nonsense, utter gibberish, and complete lunacy into one book than any other author in all of human history that I am presently aware of.
Again, while I do believe that the majority of readers will find themselves deeply amused at the sheer idiocy in this anthology of stupidity, I fear that some poor souls may just get sucked into the author’s delusions. For that reason, I have provided this warning to please disregard Joel’s terrible advice. For most readers, I expect and hope that they will be amused by the book’s clear guidance on how not to find success and find humor in what the book attempts to instruct them to do.
Perhaps most importantly, I believe that although my hand was forced to publish this book of unrefined nonsense by Joel and my superiors, Joel will finally be exposed to the world for who he really is–a completely unsuccessful person.

Review

Do not go into this with thoughts of it being a serious self help book or you are going to be thoroughly confused. Go into it with the mind set of a child that hasn’t been ruined by the worst parts of the real world. if you do not have a sense of humor you won’t make it past the preface. The back and forth between the editor and Wally would have made any school aged boy proud. Their shenanigans between them was hilarious. I liked the fact that it all boiled down to something everyone can relate to in real life.

The Shadow Weave by Annette Marie Review Tour

The Shadow Weave
Annette Marie
(Spell Weaver #2)
Publication date: January 12th 2018
Genres: Adult, Urban Fantasy

Clio might be a nymph living in exile among humans. And she might possess the rare ability to mimic any magic she sees. And she might have just seriously ticked off the most powerful family of spell weavers in the Underworld.

But she is not in love with an incubus.

Lyre is the rebellious black sheep of said weaver family, and he’s the only reason she survived her recent Underworld “vacation.” He’s also the sexiest thing she’s ever seen. Together, they have to track down a catastrophically dangerous magic—a magic he created, she sort of stole, and they both lost—before his family gets their hands on it. And that means fighting alongside him in a desperate attempt to avert complete disaster.

But she is definitely not in love with him. At least, she’s pretty sure she’s not.

Mostly sure. Maybe sure? …Crap.

Goodreads / Amazon

Amanda’s Review

The Night Realm is the prequel to the Steel & Stone series and sets the stage a little for that series. It was ok. Clio has a few twists as she maneuvers her way through the underworld and her interactions with Lyre make this a fun read. It just didn’t hit all my go-to buttons to make it a great read, which is a little disappointing after the Red Winter series.
Shadow Weave is a good sequel to the first one and is better than the first even though it still moves a little sluggishly. The action was more exciting and made it a decent read. The inconsistencies of the characters could be a little off-putting but otherwise, I would recommend to fantasy fans.

Author Bio:

Annette Marie is the author of the Amazon best-selling Steel & Stone series, which includes Goodreads Choice Award nominee Yield the Night, and fantasy trilogy Red Winter. Her first love is fantasy, but fast-paced adventures and tantalizing forbidden romances are her guilty pleasures. She lives in the frozen winter wasteland of Alberta, Canada (okay, it’s not quite that bad) with her comparatively sensible husband and their furry minion of darkness—sorry, cat— Caesar. When not writing, she can be found elbow-deep in one art project or another while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.

Meet the Author

Elizabeth Hayley is actually “Elizabeth” and “Hayley,” two friends who love reading romance novels to obsessive levels. This mutual love prompted them to put their English degrees to good use by penning their own. The product is Pieces of Perfect, their debut novel. They learned a ton about one another through the process, like how they clearly share a brain and have a persistent need to text each other constantly (much to their husbands’ chagrin).

“Elizabeth” lives with her husband, daughter, and nutjob of a dog. “Hayley” lives with her husband, son, and her own crazy dog. Thankfully, their children are still too young to read.

Elizabeth Hayley’s writing motto is best captured by the words of Patrick Dennis: “I always start with a clean piece of paper and a dirty mind.”

Tattered (A Tattered Duet #2) by Author Brooke O’Brien

Title: Tattered
Series: A Tattered Heart Duet #2
Author: Brooke O’Brien
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 30, 2018

Maverick Night is bad news. He made me want things I knew I shouldn’t but did.
Now my brother’s best friend is back, but we are both different people. Time changed us.
I crave the way my heart beat when he used to look at me, how it felt to be in his arms. Nothing good will come from opening myself up to him.
I just hope my tattered heart can take it if he walks away again.
TORN and TATTERED are companion novellas to the Heart’s Compass series. You do NOT need to read the Heart’s Compass books in order to enjoy the Tattered Heart duet, however, it is highly recommended that you read Torn first.

“With the ending to the last book, Brooke tore my heart out. With this one, she put it back together. Her words flowed together seamlessly in a perfect ending (or beginning) for Ryan and Maverick.” – Kacie, Nerdy, Dirty & Flirty

“I loved this second chance romance and how both Ryan and Maverick have grown! Amazing duet and I can’t wait for more from this group of friends!” – Patricia, Words We Love By Blog

“What I really loved about this duet is that love does endure. Love does fight. And the heart, no matter how torn and tattered it was left, will be mended by the one that it calls for.” – Suzanne, Goodreads Reviewer

I enjoyed this Short story. I think it was an excellent ending for Mav and Ryan. It was a fast short read as well, though I was a little confused about how Mavericks military career ended. I have read many of this author’s books, and she has made herself one of my to go to authors. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next! I hope she will continue this storyline with the other characters.

Brooke O’Brien is the author of the Heart’s Compass series. She recently released the second book of the Heart’s Compass series, Lost Before You.

Growing up Brooke always had a love of writing; she started out writing poetry when she was young and began journaling her thoughts as she grew older. Diving headfirst into a good book has always been therapeutic for her. Now her two passions have collided.

She believes you can cure any bad day with chocolate. Brooke enjoys going on long drives with no destination in mind. She’s found that’s when her characters talk to her the most! If she’s not reading or writing, you’ll probably find her spending time with her family, watching NBA basketball, going to the movies, or collecting signed paperbacks.
